Free Gadgets Websites, Are They A Scam?

We've all seen the ads popping up here there and everywhere: Free PS3, Free Wii, Free iPod. Or maybe you haven't? Maybe this is the first you've heard of them? Well read on.

I heard stories of free ipods several years ago. In fact one of the websites made the news on both the BBC and CNN. I remember thinking I'd give it a go, but then on further investigation decided it wasn't for me.

Well, last year I was looking for a cheap mp3 when one of these websites popped up. A free iPod, what better? So I looked into how it works, and basically the so called 'free' item isn't exactly that. It is free in that it won't cost you a penny, but it isn't free in that it will cost you some of your time and effort. So in a way you are earning your free item.

What you have to do is sign up to the freebie website, complete and offer and then get some other people to do the same. It's the getting other people to do the same that's the difficult part. Most people think it's a scam, which is fair enough because that's what I thought when I first started.

So where did I get my referrals from? Well, I built my own free gadgets website of course. With a little bit of work promoting this site, I soon received my first free item, an iPod that cost me 9 referrals. Since then I've been receiving a slow trickle of items from the site - I've had a tripod, a snowboard, even cash transferred into my bank! I'm currently working towards a free PS3 which will cost 9 referrals also. After that, who knows? I'm after an SLR camera and a mountain bike, so let's see what happens! A free DS Lite would be nice also, in fact you can get almost anything you want, as long as it's available to order on the internet.
